What Do I Do With Unused Latex Paint?

Latex and other water-based paints are not hazardous and can be safely disposed of in your regular household trash after following these simple guidelines: Any leftover paint must be dried out before disposing of it. For cans 1/4 or less full, just remove the lid and place the can in a safe, well-ventilated area until the paint is dried out ( a few days). For cans more than 1/4 full, add a drying/bulking agent such as sawdust, kitty litter, sand, shredded paper or oil dry until all liquid paint is absorbed. Commercial paint drying agents may also be available where paints are sold. When completely dry, set the can out with your regular trash.
